The Lipstick Trends For The Season

There is something about lipstick that makes me think of glamour and sophistication. To me, Lip gloss in comparison seems chavvy and almost childish, whilst lipstick makes me feel grown up and ladylike. Maybe this dates back to some of the icons we look to still today; Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. All elegant, all glamorous, all ladylike and never without a slick of lipstick. Lipstick has the ability to make a girl feel like a lady, to make a boring day a beautiful day. Lipstick possesses the power to make you feel special, the second you hear the click of that lid. It oozes sophistication and sex appeal. And that ladies, is the reason to find a lipstick that makes you feel a million dollars this Christmas.

Nowadays we can take our inspiration from Hollywood starlets and pop stars. Scarlett Johansson wears classic red with ease taking her from girlie to glamorous in seconds and Rihanna rocks up her outfits with berry lips. With this seasons ladylike trends, what better way to complete an outfit than with one of winters on trend statement colours?

What’s Available?

Lipsticks on the highstreet these days are vast. MAC has a range of hundreds of lipsticks, available in a varied amount of colours and textures, making them a popular choice with the public and celebrities alike. At an affordable £12.50 they are the perfect way to update your look. I have been buying MAC’s ‘myth’ lipstick for years and would never go anywhere else for a nude lipstick. I started to branch out this winter, opting for a red lip. ‘Russian Red’ and ‘Ruby woo’ are extremely popular amongst the A-list, with Pixie Lott and Fearne Cotton among their fan base. These are very wearable on all skin types, ranging from pale to dark. ‘Lady Danger’ is a slightly more orangey red, in a matte texture which suits pale skin tones and is perfect for adding a touch of ladylike on a dull winter’s day. Try teaming it with black skinnies, heels and cashmere jumper for smart casual sophistication.

If your budget knows no limits Chanels ‘Rouge Coco’ collection contains classic reds that suit all. With amazing black and gold packing and a moisturising formula this is one lipstick to make you feel ultra special and will surely impress the second you dig it out of your handbag. The most popular colour from this collection is the well known ‘Mademoiselle’ shade that is so called the universally flattering lipstick. Featuring Vanessa Paradis in the advert, her classically pretty look gives a certain appeal to this lipstick. It also smells like a real lipstick giving it that extra aphrodisiac quality and va va voom the second you sweep it across your lips.
