Colour Me In – Styling To Suit The Trend

Colour Me In – Styling To Suit The Trend

In line with the seasons tropical collections of neon brights and crayola coloured bolds, catwalk hair and make-up has taken on a whole new level. Girls, in this article we take a peek at the new colours that have splashed all over the palettes of the designers best make up artists. Think fifties roller-set waves to seventies frizz, and a retro, almost cartoony vibe to brilliantly loud make-up palettes.

On The Runways

Dior and Etro have given us reason to bat those lashes. Models eyes were emphasised using exquisite shades of icy sorbets, glitters and block bold primary colours. Think the smoky eye – but with a colour splash of purple, pink, green, orange or blue. Fendi and Gucci show how a lip paint or lipstick can pull a whole outfit together, through a chemical coral or rebellious rouge. And to top it off, there were two clear hair ideals; Louis Vuitton’s sleek and chic up-doos, or Marc Jacobs contrasting voluminous curly locks.

Get The Look

The colour splash trend is set to take summer by storm, vanishing all forms of winter blues. So to really work it, and to step out onto the streets with an air of confidence, we have come up with some classic steps of styling that go hand in hand with the new bold fashion trends. This will have you looking totally coordinated and chic, whilst avoiding the colour clashing clown.

The trick is to think of yourself as an artist; instead of paint, you have fine powders and liquids. In other words – your face is the canvas. Don’t shy away from experimenting with blocks of colour, on your lips or eyelids.

Step one

Like a canvas, start with foundation – none of this orange Oompa Loompa foundation, this trend requires a natural skin tone. Choose a foundation to suit your skin needs. Each foundation is designed for different types of skin, be it oily, fair, or spotty. An assistant at a make up counter has all of the knowledge you need, so use it to your advantage.
